Reading- Reread "Schools Around the World" on pages 439-455 in your Journeys textbook. Students may complete pages 192-193 in their Journeys workbook (titled "Reader's Notebook"). They should respond to the questions and support their responses with ideas or sentences in "Schools Around the World."

    Thursday 3/19/20:

Reading- Today's skill will focus on using a dictionary. If you have a dictionary at home, that's great! If not, you can use a website such as www.dictionary.com. Please review the entry word, definitions, example sentences, and pictures (if there are pictures).

The entry word is listed in alphabetical order with all the other entry words in the dictionary.

The pronunciation tells you how to sound out the word.

The part of speech tells you if the word is a noun, verb, adjective, etc.

One or more definitions of the entry word are included.

An example sentence may be included to show how to use the word correctly.

    * Students may turn to page 196 in their Journeys Workbook to see an example entry in a dictionary. Students must label each part of the dictionary entry.

*Please have your child find 5 words in the dictionary and write the entry word, definition, and use it in a sentence.

Math- Module 5, Lesson 16: If your child has the Learn (yellow) workbook at home, please have them complete the Lesson 16 Problem Set. If they only have the Succeed (black) workbook, they may complete the homework for Lesson 16. There is a "Homework Helper" page in the black workbook to help you understand the lesson.

    Friday 3/20/20:

Reading- Look back at “Schools Around the World” to help you discuss the questions on page 458 in your Journeys textbook. Have your child answer these questions orally. Then, have them complete the “Write About Reading” response on page 459 in their Journeys textbook. Please make sure to check that every sentence starts with a capital letter and ends with a period.

Math- Module 5, Lesson 17: If your child has the Learn (yellow) workbook at home, please have them complete the Lesson 17 Problem Set. If they only have the Succeed (black) workbook, they may complete the homework for Lesson 17. There is a "Homework Helper" page in the black workbook to help you understand the lesson.

Online Classwork: Please have your child on iReady for 25 minutes TWICE A WEEK. It is our goal to have each child on iReady for 50 minutes per week. Also, please have them log on to www.zearn.org and work on this website for 30 minutes per day. There is another website we will be utilizing for Reading. It is www.raz-kids.com. Their username and password for RAZ kids is the same as iReady. If you need your child's login information for any of these websites, please message me privately. It is recommended that your child also complete 30 minutes per day of RAZ kids as well.

***Daily Homework: Please have students complete their Reading Log every day. They should be reading 30 minutes per day from their book baggy. If they do not have any more books to read in their book baggy, please read one from home or use the books on www.raz-kids.com.
