    Welcome to Ms. Lois’ Kindergarten
    Class K-273!
I am delighted to be your child’s teacher this year. This will be a very important, exciting and challenging year for all of us.  As a teacher, my mission is to bring out the enthusiastic learner in each child.  My goal for the class is to have all our children working at or above grade level.  In order to accomplish these goals, it is essential to support our children’s learning.  Therefore, I will try to remain in contact with you about your child’s progress throughout the year.

    Our Busy Day/Curriculum

Kindergarten is in session from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Please be on time each morning to ensure a good start for the day. Our very busy day includes a two hour Literacy Block, where the children are engaged in Reading and Writing activities. In the afternoon we will be using the “Eureka” Program. This Program provides a hands-on approach to learning math skills. In addition to our classroom time, the children will have other teachers (Clusters) who will guide them in the specialty areas such as: Physical Education, Art, Math, and Music.

AM In the morning students will receive a weekly assignment sheet. Please keep this handy to refer to on a daily basis, I recommend you leaving it in the folder in case I need to make adjustments to their assignments. They will have their homework checked, and will receive new assignments and all correspondence. Afterward we have our meeting time that includes the calendar, counting our days in school, discuss the weather, morning songs/finger plays, etc. They are then required to go to their seats to write in the date into their own personal calendars.

They will snack at approximately in the afternoon. We will sometimes snack in the AM depending on their enrichment schedule.

In the morning they will have our Literacy lessons, our Literacy Program is called “Journey’s” and "Fundations." The children are engaged in 2 or more of the following: Reading, Writing, Word Study, Shared Reading, and Read Alouds, and Interactive Reading and Writing.

PM In the afternoon we will usually have our math lesson as well as our other subjects. Students during the week will have 2 or more lessons in either Social Studies, Science, Music & Movement and Art.
