NYC families with children born in 2012 who are applying to Kindergarten for the 2017-2018 school year can apply beginning Wednesday, November 30 - January 13, 2017 . Get ready to apply to Kindergarten by taking these next steps:
Kindergarten Admissions Overview
In New York City, children are eligible to apply to kindergarten in the year they turn five. Each winter, Kindergarten applications are accepted for the coming school year and every child is guaranteed a Kindergarten placement.
All schools are expected to serve the majority of special education students in their community, and all schools are required to provide, at minimum, English as a New Language (ENL) programs to their English Language Learners.

2017 NYC Kindergarten Directory: Learn about the admissions process and Kindergarten programs in each borough.
New Elementary Schools: There are four elementary schools that are opening for the first time for the 2017-2018 school year-get to know them to see if you want to list them on your application.
School Search: Find for your zoned school-it is where your child is mostly likely to attend Kindergarten.
School Open Houses: Attend school open houses to learn about Kindergarten programs that interest you.
Apply Now to Kindergarten
If your child was born in 2012 and you live in New York City, submit an application by January 13, 2017. All NYC families should submit a Kindergarten application, including current pre-K students-current pre-K students do not automatically stay at their school for Kindergarten.

You can list up to 12 choices on your Kindergarten Application-remember to include the program code and to consider more than one choice.
All applications received by the January 13 deadline are treated the same-our application process is not first-come, first-served. You can update your application until the January 13 deadline, if you have already submitted.
